LARRY ASEGO TOP WINNER AT KENYA PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS

By  |

22 photographers were recognized for their photos during the 2016 Kenya Photography Awards at an event held at the National Museums of Kenya. Emerging the top winner of the night was the celebrated radio personality Larry Asego who scooped two awards for Sports and Creative category.

There was no overall winner hence the award was not given, this comes as the judges felt that the level of entries did not quite attain such a level and as such did not want to lower their expectations and standards by selecting an overall winner.

We have come a long way in growing the photography industry as a whole and we still have a long way to go. The culmination of this photo contest tonight is a testament to the hard work that each and every photographer put so that we showcase some of the best imagery we have. Congratulations to all the winners tonight and may this awards motivate you the more and inspire young talent out there each and every day,” noted Njeri Mwangi, Chief Organizer, PAWA 254

She added: “I call upon all young and upcoming, professional and amateur photographers in the country to bring out their best shots every year and together we can sharpen and grow the industry as a whole. In partnership with Canon and Photographers Association of Kenya, we will be rolling out photography classes so that we nurture young talents in the society.

On his part, Chief Guest, Swedish Ambassador, H.E. Johan Borgstam commended all the winners and committed to working closely with the awards model now and in the future.
