COMEDIAN CHURCHILL, MAKE-UP ARTIST KINGAI MWITI AND JIM NDURUCHI WINNERS AT YOUTUBE AFRICA AWARDS

Comedian Churchill, make-up artist Kangai Mwiti and Jim Nduruchi who uses social media to fight jiggers are among the winners in the inaugural YouTube Awards.

The event ceremony held in Johannesburg, South Africa honoured top YouTube creators in the continent with awards including the channel in each country with the most subscribers. The awards sought to celebrate the creativity and talent on YouTube across the continent.

Churchill’s show was declared the top Kenyan Channel, Kangai Mwiti, who owns Bellesa Africa Channel scooped the make-up fashion category while Nduruchi whose channel focuses on fighting jiggers was the
winner in the non-profit category.

YouTube Africa Awards, hopes to celebrate incredible achievements, while also demonstrating long-term commitment to the continent.

Vanessa Mdee, Timaya and Fena Gitu performed at the gala.

Other winners were Ugandan comedian Kansiime Anne who scooped two awards for comedy and top subscriber creator in Uganda while Diamond Platnumz was top subscribed creator in Tanzania.
