Celebrities Jidenna, Samuel L Jackson, Chris Rock, Common, Jurnee Smollett Bell, Lupita Nyong’o,  and Yara Shahidi  among others. Spearhead a campaign to shine light on the work of a literary hero, iconic writer, essayist, playwright, activist James Baldwin.

In the short clip the celebrities’ state, Samuel L. Jackson is “not your Negro.” Janelle Monáe is “not your bitch.” Common is “not your criminal.” Chris Rock is “not your thug.” Lupita is “not your noble savage.”

The documentary/film I Am Not Your Gegro by director and writer Raoul Peck highlights Baldwin’s work.

It takes a harsh, uncompromising look at race relations in America, through the lens of late New York novelist James Baldwin and his relationships and interactions with civil rights leaders Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.
