GINA DIN-KARIUKI, LUPITA NYONG’O & VIVIAN CHERUIYOT AMONG OTHER WOMEN NOMINATED FOR NEW AFRICAN WOMAN AWARDS

Gina Din Group founder Gina Din-Kariuki is a nominee for the 2017 New African Woman Awards.

Ms. Kariuki has been nominated in the New African Woman in Media category alongside CNN anchor Zain Ejiofor Asher of Nigeria, blogger and activist Amira Yahyaoui of Tunisia and Guinea’s Eloine Barry who is the CEO of African Media Agency.

I’m delighted to be nominated for this prestigious award and to be recognized alongside other outstanding individuals across the continent,” said Ms. Kariuki who was listed as one of Africa’s 100 most influential people by the New African magazine in 2015.

My nomination is testament to the high regard our peers have for Kenya’s communication industry and our economic potential,” she added.

Last November, Ms. Kariuki was awarded the Gold Stevie® Award in the ‘Woman of the Year – Advertising, Marketing & Public Relations’ category.

Nine other Kenyan women have been nominated for the award including Keroche Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja, Olympic Champion Vivian Cheruyiot and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o. Also nominated are former athlete and peace ambassador Tegla Loroupe, activist Vivian Onano, CEO of Kenya Women Holding Jennifer Riria, Stella Kilonzo of African Development Bank, Founder of The Web Tekies Anne Wanjuhi Njoroge,  Managing Director for Agriculture and Climate Risk Enterprise (ACRE) Rahab Kariuki.

New African Woman Forum which takes place at Dakar’s Terrou-Bi Hotel on April 13.
