MUTHONI THE DRUMMER QUEEN, MARUSHKA & TAIO AMONG OTHERS TO PERFORM AT EQ BLACK GRIME

The first edition of EQ Black Grime will go down at the Goethe Institute on May 6.

EQ Black Grime will feature both local and international collaborations that will bridge the UK sound with a local twist. On the line-up are DJ Wabba, DJ Young Jockey, DJ lasta, DJ GI and The British through a digitalized collaboration. The collaboration will give grime raw sound and showcase a journey through grimes history until today.

The set is also going to infuse some of the top local rappers in a cypher for 30 minutes, these artists include Muthoni Drummer Queen, Marushka, Taio, Kiwango of Cosmic Homies, Jean Christian and Obie.

This line-up features the mainstream, the come up and the underground covering sheng, Swahili and English.

10 percent of ticket sales will go to the charity Msichana Empowerment Kuria an independent charity that stops Female Genital Mutilation in Kenya, started by 25 year old Natalie Robi that has dedicated her whole life to ensure women have the right to protect themselves against FGM.

Equilibrium is an events series that focuses on bridging the gap between the UK music market and East Africa.
