Kenyan actress Samantha Mugatsia famed for her role in Rafiki film has won best actress at the Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO).

Winning Best Actress for RAFIKI at FESPACO is monumental. It is not only a recognition of Kenya’s artistry and adds Kenya to the history of African cinema, but a huge recognition of Freedom of Expression within Africa.” Added Wanuri.

Fespaco Film Festival is held biennially in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso to honour films by African filmmakers and chiefly produced in Africa for screening and competition.
