LORETO CONVENT MSONGARI DRAMA CLUB PREMIERES TWO FILMS AT IMAX

Loreto Convent Msongari (LCM) through the Drama Club popularly known as Musketeers in collaboration with Sibasi Media premiered two films dubbed She Got Game and Boomerang at a red carpet event held at IMAX, Garden City Mall.

The films were the first ever by high school students to screen in theatres in Kenya.

Boomerang is a powerful film that tells the story of how radicalization is a growing concern with more and younger Kenyans being lured towards terrorism without being fully aware while She got game is a story of Swans basketball team, after they lose their head coach to a heart attack, the school is faced with the dilemma of selecting a new coach. Kendi the cheer leading captain steps up and is faced with the task of leading the team in the new basketball season.

Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), CEO Dr. Ezekiel Mutua who was in attendance said, “This is an inspiring milestone for the creative industry, which KFCB is proud to be associated with. The Board is particularly happy that this great success has been achieved by high school students. As a regulator, KFCB’s main mission is to promote creative talent by encouraging the production of local films that uphold moral values and culture. The Board is keen to encourage the production of positive content, which resonates with the Board’s campaign for social values.”

The Board will work with the school in this commendable project and seek opportunities for screening in reputable international film festivals. This will expose the students to new ideas in the art and craft of film making as well as opening international career opportunities for them.  Indeed, film is a lucrative business and an avenue for successful careers,” added Dr.Mutua.
