MIKE RUA, JOSE GATUTURA AND SALIM YOUNG TO HEADLINE TRACE LIVE
Trace Live presents the third edition of its cultural season dubbed Mugithi reloaded.
Trace Live is a unique, intimate and interactive showcase of Kenyan music that has rocked the music industry, with back to back live contemporary and vernacular concerts throughout this COVID 19 pandemic.
Back by popular demand, Mugithi special promises to deliver hit after hit on October 17, for 3 hours from 9:00pm- 12:00 midnight by a star-studded line-up, consisting of the King of Mugithi Mike Rua, Machete the King Jose Gaturura and Salim Young whose performances will keep fans locked and loaded on to Trace Eastern Africa Facebook & YouTube pages.
“Our first edition of Mugithi was a great success and based on the feedback we received we are proud to present another edition,” said Trace Eastern Africa MD, Mr. Danny Mucira. He reiterated Trace E.A’s unwavering commitment to promoting the music industry, and showcasing Kenya’s diversity to the world will extend even after the worst of the Corona Virus Crisis is over.
Mike Rua, the self- proclaimed King of Mugithi is set to perform hit songs like ‘Ndinandiniria Bei’ which translated means ‘let us bargain’. The song is set in the context of a dowry ceremony where he is asking his future wife’s family to meet him halfway because he doesn’t have the money they are asking for.
Jose Gatutura, aka Mashete the king’s songs have risen to the top of the charts and have seen many people from all communities singing along to hits like thii ukiumagaandhaha nigute.
The name Salim is not new to Mugithi lovers and Salim Young will live up to the great Mugithi name with major hit songs like Irima nene(Big hole) and the heartbreak inspired song indo ciene (other people’s things) that saw him rise to the league of the greats!
Mugithi music is loved for its ability to transverse community and language barriers, and the fact that it tackles a wide range of subjects and includes a good degree of social & political commentary.
