‘I GOT PREGNANT IMMEDIATELY AFTER HIGH SCHOOL’ RACHEL SHEBESH OPENS UP ABOUT HER FAMILY

Chief Administrative Secretary Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Rachel Shebesh has disclosed that she had her firstborn son immediately after concluding high school. Speaking in a sit-down interview, the CAS stated that her parents had an easy time accepting the pregnancy since she was done with high school.

After fourth form, I became a mother. I got pregnant with my firstborn son with my then boyfriend who is now my husband and I decided it take care of my child and I wasn’t worried at all. My mum noticed, she called me and asked if I was pregnant to which I said yes, but the good thing I was done with high school. So they accepted it,” she said. 

At the time, her boyfriend was working and had no issue with the pregnancy. “He was working. He was newly employed. He was done with university and had a new job and we have been together throughout that time. He didn’t take off after the pregnancy, he was brought up well,” said the CAS. 

Other than her firstborn son, she is a guardian of a 32-year-old and a mother to a 22-year-old who is a professional footballer playing for Kakamega Homeboyz. “I have another son who I’m his guardian and then my last born is 22 and he is a profession football player. He is very passionate about football and I took him abroad to some academies in Spain and California but he decided to play in the Kenyan league and eventually he was signed by Kakamega Homeboyz,” said Shebesh

Shebesh also pampered her husband with praises disclosing how he is humble and intelligent. “He is very special and an extremely humble guy. A beautiful man with a beautiful soul. He doesn’t like pressure and having a celebrity status but he gives us the grounding because he is humble and also a good thinker and an analyst,” she stated. 

The CAS also spoke on her mental health condition disclosing that she has been on bipolar disorder medication for over 30 yearsShebesh noted that her husband noticed her disorder before a physiatrist confirmed it. “My bipolar disorder makes me manic and then it also makes me depressed. So my depression doesn’t come as often as my mania but when my depression comes it’s really deep to the point of no hope in life,” she said. Adding; “With support from my friends and family I’ve been able to deal with my bipolar disorder and my mental illness since I was 22 to now when I’m 50.”
