TOP FASHION DESIGNER NICK ONDU PASSES AWAY

Popular fashion designer Nick Ondu of Nickondu Sartorial is dead.  According to reports, the fashion designer took his final bow on Tuesday, September 7.

Through various social media platforms, Ondu was mourned as a hard working man who had passion for fashion design. “Back I 2007 when we were just starting our small hustles with Raphael Onis  Bran Flake in a small shop at Winmart market, #NickOndu had already developed his passion in fashion and design a dream that he pushed to the stardom level.

Am saddened getting information from Brayo that our friend is no more! Sad, the last time we spoke Nick told me “Evanso Corona imeharibu biz lakini vitu zitakua sawa.” the thugs of Nairobi will one day die, they’ve cut short a dream that was destined for greater greatness. Litna ndi! May he rest easy,” wrote his friend Evance Omenda.

“What sad news. Yes the photo says it all. Nick Ondu and I  met some time back when both of us had just started in the fashion industry.its sad to learn such a talent is gone. I still remember when he said he learned suit making from his mum n that gave me the zeal to work harder n  know I can do it without formal training. A true fan of your work.you are in our prayer,” Fashion designer Mohamed Bana mourned. 

In 2018, Ondu made headlines after winning a competition organised to design the inaugural winner’s jacket for the 2018 Barclays Kenya Open (BKO). The organisers of the BKO 2018 decided to present the jacket to the winner similar to other major tournaments in the world. The contest brought together six renowned Kenyan designers.
