POLYCARP OTIENO SPEAKS ON INSECURITIES OF BEING A FATHER

Sauti Sol’s guitarist Polycarp Otieno has spoken on his insecurities as a first time dad. 

Polycarp said he was not ready to be a dad when his wife Lady Mandy got pregnant, “When you get a kid, insecurities are going to crop up. We all have insecurities of course. First of all the insecurity starts from ‘I’m I ready?’ and I experienced that myself. But then, when are you ever going to be ready, honesty? 

Insecurities are a big part of shaping up the kind of parents you will be and sometimes insecurities are not necessarily a bad thing. Because they make you get out of your shell and make you become a better person overall, if you tackle them nicely.”

His advice to young fathers is to seek help, “My fellow men we are all learning from each other and no one is perfect. When you look at things in the perspective of making you a better human being and a better dad then it builds you, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Insecurities make you a better person if you channel them in the right direction. Seek help if you need one. As men, let’s look out and celebrate for each other.”
