NANA GECAGA CELEBRATES 23 YEARS OF SOBRIETY
President Uhuru’s niece Nana Gecaga has hit a major milestone in her longtime sobriety journey.
On Monday, the 44 year old, celebrated 23 years of being sober by sharing a video on social media to mark the occasion. In the touching video, Gecaga reflected on what the date meant to her, “It’s the fourth of July and I know in America everybody is celebrating Independence Day. But today is an extremely important day for me. I am 23 years sober today. I don’t take it for granted and I know that a lot of people out there are struggling with alcoholism. I just want to say keep on going.”
She continued, “Look for the people around you who are going to help you and never be ashamed to ask for help. The day that I asked for help was the day that my life changed. 23 years later, I cannot even imagine that I will be sitting here as the CEO of KICC. I could not even imagine that I would be the mother of three amazing young boys and the most important, I could not even imagine I would be who I am today. I am strong, independent and I am taking every day as a blessing. Please help me in celebrating my 23 years of sobriety.”
Her advice to people on the same journey is to take it one day at a time, “For everybody who is on the path of sobriety. Be it a couple of hours, minutes, days, months, weeks, years or decades. Well done, and congratulations. For those of you who are still struggling, please take it very seriously and there’s nothing else more important than finding your sobriety. Keep going and you will find yourself. Take it minute by minute and I promise you, the hours, days, weeks and years will take care of themselves.”
