ANITA NDERU GETS REAL ABOUT BEING A FIRST-TIME MOTHER

Anita Nderu and husband, Barrett Raftery are celebrating their daughter, Kaya Gacheri turning one month. In a long post on her Instagram, Anita  spoke about her parenting journey, “The two humans pictured here have successfully made it through the first month of the 4th trimester. Peanut has not packed up her bassinet and diapers and left so we must be doing something right or maybe she is just waiting for her passport to arriver because her plans to leave us doesn’t involve local travel.”

According to her, there is so much pressure being a first time mom, “Being new parents is so much pressure, the first week I would wake up everyday forgetting I gave birth then I turn and see my fundi wide awake staring in my direction, her milk senses have notified her that ng’ombe ameamka.”

Adding that her husband took leave from work to help around and she gladly let’s him change the baby’s diaper, “My husband on the other hand is doing more work on paternity leave than when in office, I am sure by now he has figured out why I didn’t argue when he volunteered to be on diaper duty, it is astonishing how many openings babies have and unbelievable how they can all be open and spilling sound and liquids at the same damn time. I see why plumbers lose business, once you become a parent, a faulty sink becomes child’s play.”

Moreover she said her daughter doesn’t resemble her, “If the rumours haven’t reached you yet, let me fill you in, peanut looks nothing like me! The joke is that she only has my heart. Thank goodness in pregnancy based on the fact that I carried her for 2 years no one doubts my legitimacy as her mother. I foresee tough times at airports in the future.”

The couple will be travelling to celebrate their daughter turning one month, “Anywho, happy one month to the most beautiful little human. She is off to her first safari this weekend to celebrate, it’s time she met other wild animals.”
