FIRIRINDA HITMAKER DICK MUNYONYI IS DEAD

Celebrated Mugiithi artiste Dick Munyonyi  is dead.

Dick Munyonyi passed away on Saturday, January 6, following an extended struggle with illness. News of his demise was announced by musician Karangu Wa Muraya on Facebook, “This life is too short, whenever you get an opportunity to do good, you just do good, you don’t know about the next minute…..we did our part, but God’s will prevailed. Rest in peace my friend, my neighbour Dick Munyonyi.”

Hours before the singer’s passing, Karangu took to social media to fundraise for Munyonyi who was admitted at Gatundu Hospital. “Morning friends, our friend Dick Munyonyi who is currently admitted at Gatundu Hospital is in  critical condition and doctors have advised them to transfer him to a facility where there is an ICU. 

They need at least 100k for the deposit and the family has told me they don’t have it. I have sent my 10k and I  know we can save the life of this man. Please send whatever you have to his number on (+254729355305 Ndiki Njoroge) Speedy recovery my friend…..”

In 2021, Munyonyi’s single Firirinda went viral on TikTok, 35 years after its initial release. In January last year, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage one prostate cancer.
