KENYAN STUDENTS RECEIVE PRESTIGIOUS SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDY IN INDONESIA
The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Nairobi announced that three Kenyan students have been awarded the prestigious Rector scholarship from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) to pursue their higher education in Indonesia. The students paid a courtesy call to his excellency Muhamad Hery Saripudin the Indonesian Ambassador in Nairobi.
The three Kenyan students are among four scholarship recipients selected this year from countries accredited by the Indonesian Embassy in Nairobi. Alongside one student from Uganda who has also been granted the scholarship opportunity to pursue their academic endeavours at UNY. The students left the country over the weekend on February 24, 2024.
The students, filled with enthusiasm and gratitude, expressed their eagerness to embark on this new chapter of their academic journey in Indonesia. They conveyed their heartfelt appreciation to the Indonesian government, UNY, and the Embassy of Indonesia in Nairobi for their support. “I’m so grateful for this opportunity that I have been given by the Embassy of Indonesia in Kenya to go and pursue my masters in Accounting and economics. I’m so grateful and jovial, see you after two years,” said one of the students.
Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, a renowned institution known for its academic excellence and vibrant cultural atmosphere, continues to attract students from various corners of the globe. The Rector scholarship provides recipients with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage while pursuing their academic passions.
Speaking on the occasion, the Indonesian Ambassador expressed his delight at witnessing the growing educational exchanges between Indonesia and Kenya. He emphasised the importance of nurturing talent and fostering international collaboration in the field of education, which ultimately contributes to mutual understanding and friendship between nations.
