‘I CONTEMPLATED ENDING MY LIFE AND DAUGHTER’S’ JACKIE MATUBIA REVEALS

Renowned actress Jackie Matubia has talked about her past struggles with mental health. 

In a candid revelation, Matubia said that experiencing cyberbullying due to her first marriage drove her to contemplate ending her life. “There was a day I took medicine and I wanted to take away my life and my firstborn daughter Zari. I asked myself if I would go to heaven and God showed me other people’s problems which are bigger than mine, I was like why was I worried?”

Opening up about her past relationships, she said she didn’t want history to repeat itself, “I used to tell my friends I didn’t not want history to repeat itself. I wanted to stick in my marriage. I didn’t want to be like my mother who was left with me and she remarried again. After 7 years I picked myself up and left.”

She also disclosed that she only discovered her pregnancy with her second child at eight weeks, “In my first marriage I felt like I was in prison when I left I started living my life. I wasn’t planning to get married again then I realised I was pregnant with my second child Zendaya at eight weeks.”

Despite the challenges, Matubia said she has an amicable relationship with her first ex-husband, “Me and my first ex-husband are so close. He is an amazing father, we became friends after the divorce. The hardest thing I have learned is you cannot force a grown man to take care of their child.”
