ABEL MUTUA FACES BACKLASH FOR FORCING KISS SCENE WITH SARAH HASSAN

By  |

Popular scriptwriter and actor Abel Mutua is facing backlash following allegations that he misused his role to force a kiss scene with co-star Sarah Hassan during the last episode of the popular TV show Tahidi High.

Speaking on Mics Cheque Podcast, Mutua admitted to the incident, saying, “Tanya was polite but alikuwa ameniyima vibaya, but mungu ni nani. In the final episode, the second scene of my episode on the show, nilipiga mate mbaya, I kissed her.”

Kenyans on X reacted to the viral video, calling out Abel Mutua for his actions.

Escoberoo: Abel Mutua admitting to have forced a kiss scene (as a script writer of Tahidi High) just to get to Sarah Hassan, who had privately refused his advances, is what gets you cancelled. It’s what has brought down the greatest Hollywood writers.

Mepoho_: If you don’t see that what Abel Mutua did is sick then you are as sick as he is and would do the same shit given the opportunity. That man had the temerity to brag about what he did to Sarah Hassan because he sees no problem with it, what else is he capable of/has he done?

Miss Mumbuz: It’s the fact that you cannot see that it is not just about Sarah Hassan, because if Abel has not learned what he did was wrong, what else has he done/what harmful behaviour is he enabling from other actors in this orbit? Think, just a little.

Gerald Ngao: The fact that Mkurungezi Abel Mutua happily admitted to creating a kissing scene in Tahidi high scriptwriting just to kiss Sarah Hassan against her will is disturbing. Such predatory behaviour must not be ignored. That’s corporate GBV!

Njeri Waridi: From Abel’s own explanations, Sarah Hassan had clearly communicated her disinterest to engage; so inserting a kissing scenario in the script is violating her boundary. Sexual abuse is not limited to the physical act – it starts in the mind with the beliefs we hold towards women.
