‘I WILL NEVER DO A PUBLIC RELATIONSHIP’ MARYA OKOTH OPENS UP
Content creator Marya Okoth recently opened up about her decision to keep her future relationships private following a public break up with comedian YY.
When asked if she is dating, Marya clarified that she is currently single and has reservations about entering another public relationship. “If I had a boyfriend, you guys would see signs. I don’t have a boyfriend,” she said. “I don’t think I will ever do a public relationship again, but never say never,” she said.
The couple’s separation came after a long-term commitment, which, according to YY, was more than just a ‘come-we-stay’ arrangement. Speaking to Milele FM’s Ankali Ray, YY shared, “In as much as we didn’t get married legally, we treated each other as husband and wife. Papers are just a formality. I don’t want people going around disrespecting what Marya and I had by calling it a come-we-stay marriage. No, it was not.”
A month after the break up, YY chose to move forward, making headlines with his new partner, Noela. In a social media post, YY posted a video of himself meeting Noela’s parents, captioning it: “God, thank you for the honour of meeting her parents… I can’t do this without you. Help me give my best.”
Addressing claims of moving on too quickly, he said that prolonged grief after a break up can hinder emotional recovery. “I am a family person. I’m 31 years old, and I love to build a family. If you give yourself a long break after a relationship ends, you may never move on and may end up avoiding relationships altogether,” he shared in a recent interview with SPM Buzz.
