‘RUDI GOSPEL’ DADDY OWEN TELLS WILLY PAUL
Veteran gospel artist Daddy Owen has publicly called on secular musician Willy Paul to reconsider his current musical direction and return to creating gospel music.
In a post on his X account, Daddy Owen praised Willy Paul’s talent, recounting a recent studio encounter. “In studio working on my new project, then kidogo Pozze opens the door akaskia what I am doing, he asked me to change some stuff on the project, now it sounds great. Willy Paul is one of the most talented artists in Kenya. Arudi tu Gospel,” wrote Daddy Owen.
In June, 2021, Willy Paul shared that he faced significant criticism and lack of support from fellow artists and DJs in the gospel industry, “Reasons as to why I left. Hate from my fellow artists and DJs, lack of airplay (claiming my content wasn’t Godly back then). I was the top artist but these evil people couldn’t see that. Or they just chose to ignore the reality! These people broke my heart!
They hurt me so bad, I was depressed for 4 months. I kept crying in silence every single day and night. It got to a point where I couldn’t take it anymore. I had no money to pay my bills and even help out at home. Can you imagine I had the biggest songs bit I had nothing. I’m not perfect but what I went through as a gospel artist, no servant of God should go through,” he argued.
