‘PAY US’ FLAQO SLAMS OPPO AND AIFLUENCE OVER 5-MONTH UNPAID INFLUENCER CAMPAIGN

Prominent Kenyan content creator and influencer Flaqo Raz has publicly criticised global tech brand Oppo and influencer marketing agency AIfluence for their failure to compensate a team of influencers who participated in a high-profile campaign to promote the Oppo Reno 12 smartphone in August 2024.

In a statement, Flaqo expressed his disappointment with both Oppo and AIfluence, stating, “How you both have handled the influencer team that willingly attended your August 2024 AI event and gladly promoted and popularised the Oppo Reno 12 by creating both photo and video content to your liking is absolutely disappointing and downright shameful.”

The Content Creator revealed that the influencer team was under pressure from both Oppo and AIfluence, produced and published three months‘ worth of content within just two weeks. Despite fulfilling their contractual obligations and delivering high-quality content to promote the Oppo Reno 12, the team has not received any payment or remuneration five months later. “For there to have been no payment or remuneration five months down the line is absolutely unacceptable,” Flaqo stated. 

He further criticised Oppo for distancing itself from the issue, claiming that the brand had paid AIfluence and therefore bears no further responsibility. “For Oppo as a brand to distance themselves from this, stating they paid AIfluence and it now has nothing to do with them when the content was to promote and influence our audience to consider your brand is appalling,” he added.

Flaqo shared that Oppo, as a global brand, had a responsibility to hire a trustworthy and competent advertising agency. He also said that the influencer team had to engage lawyers to pursue the matter, only to discover that AIfluence had vacated its physical office and may no longer be operational. “This is absolute negligence on Oppo’s part,” he said.

Flaqo and his team are now calling on Oppo Kenya to take immediate action to rectify the situation and ensure that all creators involved in the campaign are paid for their work. “I accepted the partnership with Oppo knowing it is a genuine brand that I believed in. Oppo Kenya, pay us, each and every creator contracted to partner.”
