COMEDIAN NJUGUSH’S MATATU BUSINESS HIT BY SACCO LICENSE SUSPENSION

By  |

Comedian Timothy ‘Njugush’ Kimani’s matatu business has faced a setback after the National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) suspended the operating license of Super Metro Sacco, the association under which his vehicles operate.

Njugush and his wife, Celestine Ndinda, recently ventured into the matatu industry, naming their two vehicles Tugi and Toria after their two sons. However, their operations have been temporarily halted due to the suspension.

The NTSA’s decision to revoke Super Metro Sacco’s license stems from multiple traffic violations, including: 109 drivers caught exceeding speed limits. 15 vehicles operating with expired permits. The suspension took immediate effect and will remain in place until the Sacco adheres to the 2014 Public Service Vehicle Regulations. The NTSA has also cautioned the public against using Super Metro vehicles during this period.

To regain its license, Super Metro Sacco must meet several conditions, such as: Presenting its entire fleet for speed limiter inspections. Handing over 42 drivers accused of repeated traffic violations. Submitting signed employment contracts for all drivers and staff. Super Metro Sacco, which manages 294 minibuses across Nairobi and its environs, is now working to address these issues and resume operations.
