MAUREEN WAITITU ON LOSING OLDER SISTER IN TRAGIC ACCIDENT

Content creator Maureen Waititu recently opened up on the challenges her mother faced. In an emotional post, Waititu reflected on her mother’s journey, crediting her for shaping her life and teaching her resilience through the hardships she endured. “I grew up watching my mother handle the obstacles life put in her way. She went through some really hard times and I know of many that she had to overcome to be there for me as a child.”

Waititu recounted moments from her childhood when her mother made difficult choices, leaving her in the care of relatives while she worked tirelessly to ensure her daughter’s well-being and education. “I’ll never forget how she once stormed into my primary school when a few students who used to bully me took my text books and she caused havoc and I got back my books by the end of that day.”

Despite facing overwhelming obstacles, including the tragic loss of an older daughter in a school bus accident two years before Maureen was born, her mother was determined to provide and protect. “But what really baffles me is how she has kept herself together even when she had lost another daughter, my older sister. The older I grow, the more God is giving me grace to embrace and love her especially because she missed an important stage of my life because she had to work and provide for me.”

Waititu also recalled her mother’s fierce dedication to provide for them, “My life because she had to work and provide for me. It’s only recently that I have come to extend my understanding towards her own pain and her fighting for me while she fought her own battles in pain of child loss and a myriad of life challenges. I’m so happy that God is working His way into restoring my beautiful family. I love you mom!“
