‘MUM ABANDONED ME IN PUMWANI FOR 3 MONTHS’ JACKIE MATUBIA DISCLOSES

Popular actress Jackie Matubia has revealed heartbreaking details about her childhood.

Speaking about her early years, Matubia shared that her journey began with feelings of rejection from the very moment she was born. She recounted how her mother reacted with shock and disappointment after giving birth to her at Pumwani Maternity Hospital, describing the experience as the beginning of a life marked by rejection.

Rejection started when my mum gave birth to me,” Matubia disclosed. “She went to Pumwani, and when she saw I was a dark child with lots of hair, she thought I looked like a monster. My aunties even told her she had given birth to an ugly child. My mum left, and for three months, I was in Pumwani. It felt like I was born into rejection.”

Matubia’s journey took a significant turn when she moved to London to live with her father for six years. Her time there, however, was cut short by a bitter custody battle between her parents, forcing her return to Kenya. The transition brought drastic changes as Matubia went from being homeschooled in London to living in a modest bedsitter in Kawangware with her mother, partitioned by a mere curtain. “I struggled to understand what I had done to deserve such a drastic change,” Matubia explained. “My father continued paying for an expensive school, but at home, we survived on ugali and milk. It was crazy and I was trying to understand what I did to my father to live such a kind of life.”

She also revealed that the dispute between her parents has persisted for decades, with the two still not speaking to each other to this day.
