KENYA’S KATI KATI AND ZILI ZALA WIN 2017 AMVCAs

The fifth edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island Lagos, was hosted by IK Osakioduwa and Minenhle ‘Minnie’ Dlamini.

Kenya’s Kati Kati movie scooped the Best Movie-East Africa beating Aisha, Naomba Nisemehe, Epidemic and Homecoming. While Daudi Otieno’s Zili Zala got the best indigenous language movie or TV series – Swahili.

This year, four Kenyans made it to the nomination list. Spoken word artist and actor Elsaphan Njora was nominated for best supporting actor in a drama movie (Kati Kati). Dorothy Ghettuba, Victor Gatonye and Daudi Otieno were nominated for best indigenous language movie or TV seriesSwahili in Urembo, Fihi and Zilizala respectively. while the movie Kati Kati was nominated in the category for best movie in East Africa.

Nigerian musical powerhouse Timi Dakolo, and Africa’s leading vocalists Waje and Lira, performed at the main gala.
