LEGENDARY REGGAE ARTISTE FREDDIE MCGREGOR SET TO PERFORM IN KENYA
Following the successful hosting of the Jamhuri Reggae Festival 2016 and Street Fusion 1.0, Head Cornerstone Entertainment will host yet again another all-star line-up of entertainers set to perform at Jamhuri Reggae Festival.
Themed, Kenya Moja, the second edition of the festival seeks to not only provide a unique concert experience but to also spread a non-political message of peace love and togetherness as the country exits a long period of electioneering.
Headlined by legendary reggae maestro Freddie McGregor, the event will be held on December 2 at KICC Gardens. On stage will also be reggae’s preeminent harmony group Culture. Jahlyric, R5 (Nazizi, Ras Mtapa Tapa, Lavosti, Jahpila and Levysill) backed by The Roots Connection Band will also be gracing the stage.
“We are excited to yet again provide an award winning line-up of artists for the Kenyan reggae music lover. This being the second edition of the festival, we know the fans are looking forward to another exceptional experience and we are working hard to ensure we exceed their expectations” said Evarita Kamau Partnership and Events Manager at Head Cornerstone Entertainment.
Freddie McGregor’s popularity soared in the early 1980s with the release of “Bobby Babylon“. He established the Big Ship Recording Studio, and has produced many artists including Luciano and Mikey Spice. Other popular hits of Freddie’s include “Big Ship“, “Push Comes To Shove“, “Just Don’t Want To Be Lonely” and “I Was Born A Winner“; as well as cover versions of many early reggae standards.
In 2013 he received a Marcus Garvey Lifetime Achievement Award from the Institute of Caribbean Studies. He was recently honoured as a recipient of the prestigious Silver Musgrave Awards for his contribution to the arts through music.
