T.I. NATHAN, N.A.C.K & KAVEKE HEADLINE AFRICAN FASHION AND DESIGN FAIR
The first edition of African Fashion and Design Fair went down last weekend at the Ngong Racecourse, Waterfront. Highlighting the event was the fashion Show which saw three established designers from Kenya and Nigeria grace the runway show.
Opening the show was Kenya’s finest Kaveke Design who showcased his summer 2018 collection inspired by patterns from an afro futuristic pallet, cleanliness, rich colours, but staying true to our urban roots mixing up with crisp fabrics and sculptural shapes.
Next to hit the runway were AfroStreet Kollektions and QJC with their Ankara-inspired outfits, Kenya’s Eden Leather also showcased his high quality, comfy and stylish leather bags. Closing the evening were Nigerian Brands, T.I. Nathan by Temitayo Nathan Ilesanmi the creative mind behind the menswear label and Nigerian Articulate Culture Kullection (N.A.C.K) by Akinpeloye Tolulope aka Luto Tailo with his futuristic pop of colour collections designed for the modern man.
“We are absolutely delighted to introduce The African Fashion & Design Fair to the world (AFDF). The fashion fair is a gathering of African Fashion Creatives and it is set to be the largest annual fashion event in the whole of Africa with major footprints across the African Continent with the mission to promote African fashion and lifestyle brands and to amplify the business of Fashion on the African Continent and reach out to Hollywood for possible collaborations when African stories are told. This project will travel to major African cities yearly and there will always be a strategic innovation to every episode,” said Martin Uro CEO at Furaha LTD.
Gracing the event were top celebrities such as fashion blogger Silvia Njoki, singer Dufla, comedian Eric Omondi, MC Antonio, DJ Jo Kisila, fashion designers Juliet Ochieng and Martha Oliech and TV personality Angela Muiruri. Strutting the runway was Mochez Models while Sarakasi Dancers performed.
