BIRTH STORY: NAZIZI SPEAKS OUT ABOUT PREGNANCY COMPLICATION AND DEVELOPING PREECLAMPSIA

By  |

Pregnancy complications can happen to any mom-to-be and celebrities are no exception.

Musician and radio presenter Nazizi shared the birth story of her son Tafari while celebrating his 10th birthday.

The mother of one, says she did not want to have a baby shower but her friend convinced her it was important, “Birth story: one day when I was about 8 months pregnant @thitu.kariba says why aren’t you having a baby shower? I said my family and my culture think its like counting your blessings before you receive them.

So, I had decided to respect this and not have a baby shower. She then explained why its important to have a baby shower and the one reason that I can remember was “Naz you will get gifts for the baby especially diapers and stuff that will be handy in the first few months.”

After that I was sold and so was my mum lol. So Thitu asked me to choose a date I didn’t have many options for dates because I was due first week of July, I chose June 13th 1pm. We planned the baby shower and since I had managed to keep the media in the dark about my pregnancy, I invited only my closest girls.

But days before her shower she developed preeclampsia a high blood pressure disorder and had to give birth early,On June 11 I went to the clinic for the weekly check up. When I saw the doctor, he said we had an emergency! I had developed preeclampsia (High BP during pregnancy) and he couldn’t hear the baby’s heart beat and so he was sending me to the labour ward to be induced.

I called @roschrosch to take me to the hospital and at some point I called Thitu like we got to cancel the baby shower. Thitu said nah u will be out by 13th and we could surprise everyone when they arrive and find the baby lol. Sounded like a great plan however June 13th I was still in the labour ward and baby was clearly not ready to come.

We decided was too late to cancel because we had already ordered food and so much more. So Thitu said its alright we will get them to come eat, have fun and leave the baby’s stuff. I just didn’t know what to do anymore lol.”

Nazizi was not able to attend her baby shower,“The doctors kept saying just do a c-section, the cleaners would come in to the labour ward and say “alaaa bado uko hapa”  In 48 hrs I’d seen so many women come and leave with their babies, but I was patient and determined to have a normal delivery.

June 13th at about 11 am cervix finally opened and I got the injection to induce labour. At exactly 1 pm as guests were arriving at my house for the baby shower, @tafari_firoz made his grand entrance into the world. What a star I thought, 10 years later here we are.”
