Popular social media influencer Azziad Nasenya has opened up about her experience of being victimised on social networking site Twitter.
She explained that people sent her incredibly offensive messages after her Tik Tok video for Femi One and Mejja’s song Utawezana went viral, “The first hours it was all nice, people were being happy and positive about it, it was really cool. But after 8 hours, it started being so bad, they were comparing, creating memes and making videos about me.
It was so bad that I wanted to delete all my social media accounts. I had some weird friends who also showed me bad videos about me some I had not even seen; I was like I’m not as strong as I thought. I knelt down and prayed to God.
The bullying was overnight I didn’t even sleep. I used to go for the interviews and smile then go back to the house and cry. Trust me suicidal thoughts crossed my mind. I deleted my Twitter Account.
Addressing the claims that she wanted to be paid by Femi One and Mejja, she said, “I have never asked for pay and I would never. When I was doing Utawezana there was no contract that I signed to be paid.
It was my fans who were saying because I publicized the song, they wanted me to be appreciated. There is nowhere you will find I said I wanted to be paid. I am not entitled in any way, just accepting and thanking me is good enough.”
The Azziad went viral again when her rate card was leaked online, “When I say I am charging Sh500,000, it means I have worked with other brands that can attest and say I do a good job.
It’s just not random numbers that I sat down wrote, my management has seen the impact and numbers I bring to the table. My price is not fixed we can always talk.”
