VICTOR WANYAMA, CHIMANO, DIAMOND PLATNUMZ AMONG OTHER CELEBS JOIN #ENDSARS CAMPAIGN
Celebrities are taking to social media to express their support for the #EndSARS movement in Nigeria. This week, various East African celebrities have used their platforms to inform their fans of the protest taking place in the West African country.
“#ENDSARS #endpolicebrutality #endpolicebrutalityke🇰🇪 This is how a government that is supposed to be there for its people treats it’s people and still extorts it’s people? Africa is waking up to your greed. You’d rather keep your money(stolen) and status quo than have peace! Even Pharaohs buried with all their treasures have been excavated thousands of years later and still remain in this world but your curses carry on. Enough! Praying for Nigeria. The people are tired!” wrote Chimano.
International football star Victor Wanyama said, “Pray for our African brothers and sisters #EndSars,”
“We stand with Nigeria and its youth. This past week I’ve gone through a myriad of emotions. Deep admiration of a generation who took to the streets to speak about police brutality and injustices and made the world stop, listen and challenge our own fight of injustices around us.
Anger and disgust at a government who turned on, killed and maimed peaceful protesters baring the country’s flag as they exercised their civil right to demand change. Today as we celebrate and mourn the fallen heroes of Nigeria’s youth, I’m reminded that we are one people regardless of race, ethnicity or boundaries and that our collective voice can make the much needed change on bad governance in Africa, hold our leaders accountable and shift the status so we can begin to experience real change where governments work for the betterment of their people.
We demand change for now and future generations living on the continent. #IStandWithYoungNigerians We are ONE people. #EndSARS” said Diana Opoti.
Publicist Anyiko Owoko posted, “My whole being stands with you NIGERIA!! It’s so difficult already as it is; the brutality, harrassment and injustice needs to stop! It’s my prayer for my country too! 🇳🇬🇰🇪 #Africarise #sarsmustend #endpolicebrutality #reformthepolice #endsars #endswat #Nigeria #Kenya”
“It’s very sad to see our Nigerian bothers and sisters going through such a difficult period of time. What is happening in Nigeria is inhumane. My heart is breaking over the brutality that are happening, I can’t imagine the trauma of an entire generation. Together we should pray for our Nigerian Brothers and Sisters so that the situation will improve. #Endsars #PrayForNigeria,” wrote Tanzanian musician Diamond Platinumz.
