IF YOU HAVE BEEN CONNED BY A LUO MAN, PLEASE CALL HIM BY NAME AND NOT TRIBE SAYS AKOTHEE’S SISTER CEBBIE
It started with a viral post by Facebook user Amakove Wala who encourage Kenyan women to share their con stories, “Let me start a #MeToo on stories of men conning women with the woo of romantic relationships. Anyone courageous enough to share their story can post in the comments section. Otherwise, my inbox is open for DM and I can share anonymously. Stay woke, ladies. Stay woke!” she posted.
Sadly, most of the women who shared their stories stated it was Luo men who conned them but Akothee’s sister Cebbie Kokeyo is not pleased with that narrative, she has encouraged women to say their names instead of the tribe, she said, “Well, I love my men Luo. I’m the daughter to a proud responsible luo man who is my father. He gave birth to responsible Luo men who are my brothers a and whenever we are home, I look at them and smile a lot at their round-heads, fair and lovely powdered face.
I concluded long ago that my mother is an artist. She moulded her baby’s heads during bath time but somehow forgot to also shape their noses. Still, they look awesome and they are well mannered. They carry themselves with pride, honour and integrity and I just love that.
Something else, you will rarely find them combative and insulting anyone on social media. Whether they are intelligent or not, they still respect themselves and people generally
Lastly, I date a Luo man. Who equally carries himself with a lot of pride. Rarely do you find him on social media banters or unnecessary cliques. I’m literally his clique and a friend. If I happen to help in financially and we break up, I’ll be quite irresponsible and insincere to call him a con. No, I won’t. I’ll just wipe the premium tears and move on.
Not to downplay your pains but surely If you have been conned by a Luo man, please call him by name and not tribe.”
