ALVAN GATITU TALKS ABOUT HIS FIRST HEARTBREAK AFTER VALERIE KIMANI REJECTED HIM AND USING COCAINE

Former Tusker Project Fame (TPF) finalist Alvan ‘Love’ Gatitu sat down for an online interview and talked about his first heartbreak and sinking into depression after leaving TPF.

Alvan says after he was named the runner-up in the singing competition, he received a lot of backlash from his church, “I was the best male singer and Valerie Kimani took that cup, I minded it but I stopped. Valerie was a good crush that ended badly. That was the first time I got a proper rejection from a woman, she told me to my face we are not going anywhere. In fact, this is a new heart, the other one I will find it in Heaven.

We parted ways and that depressed me so I took to drinking. I had not won Tusker Project Fame, I wanted her and I did not have her, there was stigma from the church and backlash from the church people. I was basically a general loser, I lost it all. I used to really get wasted, I would to wake up drunk and go to bed drunk, I started doing hard drugs I have even done cocaine.”

The Trace FM presenter said he decided to relocate to South Africa when things got bad, “The heat got too much and I decided to runaway to South Africa, the first 10 gigs after TPF were hot bake and I would randomly make Sh200,000 to Sh300,000 per gig. Unfortunately for Project Fame they didn’t try not find out how we were doing psychologically. I got a fridge, a TV and a microwave and that was it. I took a road trip from Kenya to Cape Town.

After two years I came back to the tabloids and at some point, I went back to my bishop and told him if someone doesn’t help me, they will find me in a ditch dead and I would have killed myself. I went to a prayer center for four months praying and fasting and I started my journey back.”
