DIAMOND PLATNUMZ SPEAKS ON PETITION CHALLENGING HIS BET AWARDS NOMINATION

By  |

Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz has reacted to a petition seeking to have him disqualified from this year’s BET Awards

Speaking at an event in Tanzania, the musician stated that everyone is entitled to their opinion and he is respectful of that, adding that he would never hate on anyone for speaking their mind. “I respect everyone’s opinions, if someone likes me, insults me, I’m grateful because it means they have me in their thoughts and that’s a blessing,” said the star.

Diamond also mentioned that those who filed the petition might have done it out of their life frustrations and they might regret it and end up apologising. “When someone says something bad about you, it’s not that they hate you. They probably woke up moody. Avoid hating someone who says something bad about you, you never know if he woke up with a temper tantrum and decides to end it on you, tomorrow he/she might regret it and apologise,” he stated.

A petition had been filed on change.org urging BET to disqualify Diamond from the prestigious awards for using his popularity to whitewash Tanzanians and promote human injustices. The singer was also accused of failing to show basic concern or publicly express any solidarity with fellow artists Roma Mkatoliki, Nay wa Mitego and Idris Sultan who suffered at the hands of the late president Magufuli.
