ALI KIBA TALKS ABOUT HIS FRIENDSHIP WITH MOMBASA GOVERNOR HASSAN JOHO

Tanzanian star Ali Kiba opened up on an array of things including his beef with bongo star Diamond Platnumz. Speaking at a sit down interview, the musician explained why he takes time to release music compared to other Tanzanian musicians. In his argument, Ali Kiba stated that he likes to release music that will actively stay in the market for a long period of time.

I like when I release a song it stays for a long time, so that’s why I also take some time before I release another song. Once you have released a product and it has a big demand, if you release another one you’re going to kill the first one. It’s better to let it perform well then release a new one. That’s why I’m around, I’m still around,” said Ali Kiba

He also discussed the high rate of competitiveness in the Tanzania’s music industry, noting that fans love to see competition amongst musicians. He highlighted the need of uniqueness, maintaining that it goes a long way in musician’s survival.

The high rate of competitiveness means the music industry is growing and also fans love to see competition. For instance, we all support international teams but we need to have one for conversation and boast about our own, in order to be a blood fan and show support you must have the pride. We cannot change that, it happens automatically. You need to have that uniqueness, a style that will make you different from others so that people cannot say anything about you,” he said.

In addition, Ali Kiba stated that he does not compete, stating that following someone else’s way of doing things things will mislead him. “I don’t compete because I believe if I follow what someone else is doing I’ll lose my proper vision and my music will not get to the place that I want it to be. I do what I like and I thank God whatever I do people love,” stated the musician.

On why he doesn’t do festivals, unlike other musicians such as Wasafi artistes, he said; “It is not a must, it doesn’t mean that if you’re a big musician you have to do such festivals, sometimes it’s impossible because we were supposed to do a lot of things but then we were faced with a tragedy, before the tragedy we had COVID-19. I’ve done such before, I did Ali Kiba Unforgeable where I went round so many provinces but the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted every thing.”

Ali Kiba also talked about his friendship with Mombasa governor Hassan Joho, describing him as a brother, adding that he is visionary and smart. “He is like a brother to me, a really good friend. He is older than me and the good thing is that he respects my opinion. Joho understands what kind of a person I am and as a politician I see him as a very smart person and if Kenyans can give him a chance he can bring a lot of changes,” said Ali Kiba

On his alleged beef with Diamond, Kiba refuted existence of any beef, arguing that it is just work. “There is no beef. It’s just work and fans like it this way, that’s why I told you there is a a lot of competition,” he said.
