A NEW ACTION THRILLER MOVIE ABOUT HUSHPUPPI SET TO BE PRODUCED BY EBONYLIFE STUDIOS, WILL PACKER PRODUCTIONS & UNIVERSAL PICTURES

Filmmaker Mo Abudu of EbonyLife Studios has announced that she is set to work on an untitled project based on a Bloomberg article, ‘The Fall of the Billionaire Gucci Master‘. 

In a social media post, Mo disclosed that she will be working on the project alongside Will Packer Productions and Universal  Pictures after winning adoption rights to the article by Evan Ratliff. The article detailed how Nigerian Instagram influencer Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi ran a internet scam and laundered billions. 

Producers Will Packer and James Lopez will produce through their Will Packer Productions, while Mo will produce for EbonyLife Studios. 

In a social media post, Mo stated that she pitched the story idea to Packer and Lopez when the Hushpuppi story blew, adding that the rights to produce the film was won after consultation with several producers. “When the Hushpuppi story made headlines last year, I pitched the story idea to @willpowerpacker and James Lopez. They bought the idea and as headlined in this press release, together we won the rights to the Bloomberg article by Evan Ratliff mentioned above,” she said. 

Adding; “The rights were won after a highly contested derby by several producers and is now set up at Universal Pictures. The globetrotting action thriller project is said to be a hybrid of Catch Me If You Can and Usual Suspects.” 

Packer also confirmed the same in a statement,” Ten months ago Mo pitched us a rich and entertaining concept steeped in Nigerian culture that can only be told with the help of her unique perspective. Together we knew Evan’s work was the definitive telling and the perfect anchor of this saga,” Packer said in a statement.
