Fitness trainer and dancer Chikwere Onwukwe popularly known as Chiki Kuruka has penned a lengthy message to mark her 33rd birthday

Through her Instagram page, the dancer said she is not always keen on celebrating birthdays but she chose to do so because the year has been a tough one for many. “And just like that, I’m 33! I have a weird relationship with birthdays, but this year has been really tough for so many, so I felt like it was important to celebrate life. I keep my circle small, but I am a good friend. I am the person there at 2am, simply because it I felt that you were unhappy even if you didn’t say so. My chosen family mean the world to me, so I treat my loyalty to them seriously,” said Chiki

Adding, “I struggle with vulnerability, especially with letting people know when things are tough, so I avoid or give a glossy version of reality. My true peeps can see past that, and know when I’m over exaggerating simply to keep people at a distance, that’s usually when they hold me up and close.”

She gushed over her family, saying that she adores them and thanked them for the love and support terming it imaginable. “I am an Onwukwe, my favourite humans are my family, I adore them. like a creepy amount. But I have also been blessed to marry in to an amazing family, my Alusa Tribe have shown me love and understanding in a way I couldn’t have imagined,” wrote Chiki. “I live for equality and human rights, and I fight for people. I’m open minded and I genuinely care about discrimination and cruelty. However I also cannot fake it when my energy doesn’t vibe with someone’s, so I try and keep it brief, cute, and keep it moving.”

Chiki also discussed her love for dance and exercise and celebrated her mum and husband as her heroes. “Music, dance and exercise keep me sane. I am a positive and overall happy person, but I do need a few hours alone in the morning, and at night for spiritual and personal connection. My hero’s are my mum, my sister, my cousin and my husband. Something they all have in common is passion and heart, and I am blessed to be surrounded my that,” she added.
