MAKENA NJERI RESPONDS TO EX-LOVER MICHELLE NTALAMI’S CHEATING ALLEGATIONS

By  |

Former BBC journalist Makena Njeri has issued a statement after being accused of cheating on her ex-lover, businesswoman Michelle Ntalami. In a statement on her social media page, Makena downplayed the claims arguing that she will remain bold and true to herself no matter what comes up. “I choose to be bold! I choose to remain true to myself forever. This is both a blessing and a burden because it triggers the people who have chosen not to live in their truth,Njeri wrote.

The journalist-cum-businesswoman said she has been watching as their family and friends have been judged and criticised by cause of their association with her. “I have watched with calmness and with rage as my friends and family have been judged, criticised and bullied because of their relationship with me. Not once have they lost sight of the reasons why we are connected. Not once have they lost sight of our shared values, not once have they lost sight of the mutual love and respect between us. It is for this reason that I am writing a public statement to say that the recent drama is not about my choices and certainly not the community that I love and cherish so much. The recent drama is a manifestation of an internal turmoil that is unresolved. I say this with empathy and compassion

Can we talk about ugly relationships for a minute here? We all know through personal experiences or through close associations in our life that the minute third parties are dragged in to justify behaviour ( good or bad) it’s no longer about the two people in the relationship. When people are dragged in “as evidence” it’s more about tarnishing their names. At the level that people are being dragged into what seems like a personal dispute, it’s more about being right at all costs,” she claimed.

In the second part of her statement, she maintained that she will continue to love and celebrate her people boldly noting that the journey of a minority group will always be hard because they refuse to subscribe to the views of the majority. “The burden of the blessing to be bold is that from time to time society uses the bold as scapegoats. This is what we (myself and my friends) are experiencing. Will it pass? Yes, because the truth always sets people free. Does it hurt to see those that I love get attacked? – Yes it does. However, what does not kill one, only strengthens one! Do we as human beings irrespective of the communities we belong to encounter attacks in relationships? All the time! And like everyone else’s dark night, the sun will rise,” wrote Makena.

Following her statement, Makena was supported by a section of social media users including Kenyan singer Karen Lucas popularly known as Kaz. “I love and support you and will continue to walk with you through this shitty but temporary path. There’s light at the end of the tunnel. Keep that pretty head up,” she wrote.
