ACTRESS MUMBI MAINA OVER THE MOON AFTER BEING FEATURED ON THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS

By  |

Kenyan actress Mumbi Maina is over the moon after being featured on the latest edition of American science fiction action film, The Matrix Resurrections. In a social media post, the actress shared a lengthy message expressing gratitude for being part of the project and for the support she has received.

My heart is so full. To be supported in this way is more than I could have ever imagined! The deeper I go into my craft, the clearer it is that what we do as artists is not just a calling, but a service. A gift we get to share with the world. A gift that we bravely honour. Allowing ourselves to be vulnerable in front of the world.

Knowing full well the risks this vulnerability comes with. Rejection. Ridicule. Yet, we plow on. Because the internal rewards are unmatched. The more I explore this craft, the more it solidifies my knowledge of how much entertainment (if we want to put it lightly and call it that) brings us all together,” she wrote.

To celebrate the milestone, Mumbi partnered with Kenya Films Commission to premier the film on Wednesday, December 22 at the Westgate Mall. “To be able to celebrate this milestone in this beautiful way, in this beautiful country! This land that chose and birthed me as one of Her own is beyond incredible! Being celebrated in this way, to put it mildly, is a deeply humbling experience.

I didn’t hesperrit! I watched The Matrix Trilogy and I found myself taking notes like I was in class! The films were way beyond their time! Still so relevant 20 years later. Whew. Now, The Matrix Resurrections is a whole other force to be reckoned with! My gratitude for being a part of this?! Again, words fail me. I am sooo excited to share this experience with you,” she added.
