KALASHA INTERNATIONAL FILM AND TV AWARDS 2021: FULL LIST OF WINNERS
The Kenya Film Commission announced the winners of the 11th edition of the Kalasha International Film and TV awards during a colorful gala event hosted at the Safari Park Hotel. Officiating the gala event, the Kenya Film Commission Chief Executive Mr. Timothy Owase lauded all the nominees for their individual and collective efforts towards building a thriving art scene through either creating films or participating in them. “Our key mandate as a commission is to develop a vibrant local Film and Television industry, which in turn creates jobs and wealth in our country. In the past one year, we have had some exciting activities to stimulate growth in this industry.” said Mr. Owase.
There was a special appearance by actress and Kalasha nominee Mumbi Maina, an award-winning actress who a guest speaker was discussing her experience as a creative in this industry. “It is a great honour to be speaking in a room full of my peers and so many other veterans that I look up to in the industry. I have been in this industry for over 10 years, starting off as an actress and dancer and starring in local and international films. I have seen the growth of the industry through my personal growth and also through the quality of productions that are being churned out”, said Mumbi. “In this next decade, it can only get better through our collective effort and engaging in progressive discussions with relevant industry players to uplift the industry”, she added
Among the top winners of the night was Sarah Hassan who scooped two awards for Best Lead Actress in a Film and Drama Series, “Yaaayyyy!
