KHALIGRAPH JONES TALKS CONTEMPLATING SUICIDE AND GETTING D+ IN HIGH SCHOOL
Top Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones has opened up about his childhood and contemplating suicide in new album Invisible Currency. On the song Maombi ya Mama ft Adasa, Khaligraph explains his parents losing their job and not being able to afford rent.
Speaking to Buzz Central, Khaligraph explained how he came out of a dark place, “Because of Maombi ya mama I was able to, sometimes people see us on TV and they see me here with chains and jacket and think this guy has had a good life since the beginning. But that isn’t the case, we went through somethings at some point in our lives that we are almost on the verge of breaking down but sometimes you just believe and have ambitions and hope for the best and of course putting God first is the case with me and that is what I have always done since the beginning. I believe that is the reason why I was able to elevate to the level where I am now.”
The father of three also spoke about his father battling with diabetes and high blood pressure, him getting a D+ in high school and why it was important for him to open up about his family now, “I feel like at this point where I am now, I am able to elaborate these matters now for people to understand because I am also a father now. And sometimes you need to put these stories out there so that people know that people go through situations but if you believe you are able to overcome any situations. I had to tell them I dropped out of school and went back and got a D+. Going back to school wasn’t necessary but I felt like I had to do it, I’m the fourth born in a family of six and I am the first one to finish high school. I felt like I need to break that generational curse so that those following me can finish high school,” Khaligraph concluded.
