SOCIALITE PENDO EXPLAINS HOW BUSINESSMAN BOYFRIEND LEFT HER WITH SH208,000 HOTEL BILL AT ENGLISH POINT MARINA
Earlier in October 2020, Ex Nairobi Diaries star and musician Stacy Vugutsa, popularly known as Pendo, became centre of gossip after being arraigned in court over failure to pay a Sh208,000 bill at the English Point Marina hotel in Mombasa.
Recounting the experience, Pendo talked to Cheptoek Boyo of Buzz Central and stated that they were invited to the luxurious hotel by a prominent businessman who had promised to join them for a few days’ stay at the high-end hotel. However, he failed to make an appearance after reportedly being held up by his business activities.
“The businessman booked a flight for me and my friend and booked us to the apartment complex. He was supposed to join us but said he couldn’t make it as he was busy. However, he was paying for our accommodation but it reached a point where he said business was not going well,” she narrated.
She said that the businessman was unable to clear the debt, which stood at around Sh50,000. This prompted the hotel to hold the duo, who decided to move to a cheaper room to counter the costly bill of the pricey apartment.
After their bill accumulated to over Sh200,000, the hotel decided to report the matter to the police station and the case was taken to Shanzu Court before Resident Magistrate David Odhiambo, who released the controversial actress on a Sh100,000 bond or an alternative cash bail of Sh35,000.
On why she did not reveal the name of the businessman, she said, “lets just say I am a good person but I also feared to be killed. He is a big businessman and I didn’t want to disappear because of Sh200,000.” She says that the unidentified businessman bailed her out and the hotel bill was paid off after six months.
