WHY RAMZZY AND SHIKO NGURU PULLED DOWN THEIR YOUTUBE CHANNEL THE GREEN CALABASH
Content creator Rama Oluoch popularly known as Ramzzy has explained why their family YouTube channel The Green Calabash was taken down. Speaking in an interview, Ramzzy said, “There are faces in life that you go through, where you might think you are having a unique experience but you are having your own human experience. When I got children I decided to share that part of my life, we took a risk and I think life is for calculated risks because there is a phase in life where you reach this experience and that experience is just the amount of risk affinity you have within you.
We pushed ourselves over the last five years, I have been with my family and I have been exploring my own businesses as well. When you are trying to find that balance between family, business and career, social media takes a back foot. That’s not to say social media is bad but it’s important to let it not get into your head. You need to remind yourself who you are, the idea of moving from Nairobi to Malindi, a place where nobody knows me, really helped with that.”
Rama and Shiko announced their separation after five years of being together and he says they pulled down their children’s content so that their kids could have a private life. “For us it was time, with different phases in life you have priorities where you dial some things up and others down. For me now that my kids are just starting school, for their own privacy and how they integrate in that life it’s nice I give them that privacy that I had. We took down a lot of content, obviously our kids are growing up and they will be different from how they were babies. I’d love for them to blend into society without pressure of this is Rama’s son or daughter.
Definitely I am going to resume on YouTube and show people more about Malindi. That’s one of the reasons I will be back on social media. Me sharing bits of me not so much about the family. I’d love to be involved especially with my sons now that they are going to school and to just give them a more fulfilling experience. I will be travelling to Nairobi a lot but I will be spending most of the time in Malindi. I see them once or twice a month but when they close school they can always come to Malindi.”
