MILLY CHEBBY EXPLAINS WHY SHE QUIT HER TOP GOVERNMENT JOB

By  |

Content creator Milly Chebby is one of the most popular YouTubers in Kenya, with over 18 million views in all her videos on the video-sharing platform. She usually uploads lifestyle and cooking content that has attracted an internet community of over 247,000 who have subscribed to her channel, thus making her a successful YouTube personality.

But have you ever wondered where she started her career before being a content creator? Chebby worked previously as a civil servant in the Office of Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Office of the Deputy President William Ruto as a Public Relations (PR) practitioner before ultimately calling it quits to pursue content creation.

In a recent interview, Chebby explained why she decided to resign from the government job, saying that she loved media and production since she was young and even was a member of the Press Club while in school. Additionally, she said that her work as a PR was boring and had many challenges, such as underpayment.

I resigned because I love challenges and waking up to something new every day. I don’t like the obvious and monotony. In government, it’s basically the same thing you are doing from when you are hired until retirement. It didn’t have new challenges. There was a time I even went to work at 10 AM because I lacked motivation.” She said.

The mother of one says she has never regretted leaving employment as she now has the freedom of working anytime on her errands. She noted that she is a full-time content creator working mostly after 8 PM because she is most productive at night.
