ZORA ACTOR QUINCY RAPANDO ON HIS PARENTS BAILING HIM OUT OF DEBT
Popular actor Quincy Rapando known for his roles on Maria and Zora sat down with Buzz Central and opened up about his career.
Quincy revealed he almost missed the audition for Maria TV series because he was broke and could not afford transport. “One evening I was sitting in the house when I received a message from my friend about an audition, I decided I was not going for it. The next day in the morning while browsing my phone. I saw three of my friends had gone for that audition and they had taken a selfie with Rashid Abdalla. I had no money to go for the audition, I was broke.
At this point my parents had bailed me out of phone app debts and I could not ask them for money. I had just sold my old phone and the person had my balance of Sh300. I called him and he told me he had no money, I begged him to send me half of the balance and he sent Sh150. I used it for transport. I got to the audition and I was told I was 3 hours late but I really begged to do it and Rashid Abdalla allowed me to audition.”
Quincy bagged the role of Luwi in Maria but the management at Royal Media Services advised the producers to recast the main role which was given to Brian Ogana and he got the role of Thomas a gardener, “I was told to remain behind after the audition and we were six people. Rashid told us we landed roles on the show. A week later we were added on a WhatsApp group and I was told I will play the role of Luwi. We shot the pilot, it went to the client and they wanted a reshuffle. I was given the role of Thomas.”
