ACTOR MAINA OLWENYA LAID TO REST IN MURANG’A

Nairobi Half-Life actor Maina Olwenya was laid to rest on Saturday July 16, at his grandparent’s home in Gacharaigu Kangema, Murang’a County. “This is how we do it. We mourn and then we celebrate! Forever remembered @mainaolwenya NB: @captainotoyo kicheko chako kibayaaa! #WasaniiWaNguvu,” said actress Wilbroda.

Last week on Thursday, his family, friends and colleagues participated in a night vigil to honour the fallen actor. The Vigil which was held at the Kenya National Theatre and artistes Juliani, Hart the band, Mustafa, Teardrops and Kareh B performed at the vigil.

On July 7, Olwenya’s family released a statement detailing moments before his death. The family said that a postmortem on Olwenya’s body revealed that he succumbed to Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. A disease in which the heart muscle becomes thickened (hypertrophied) and can make it harder for the heart to pump blood.

Shortly afterwards, just after going up the stairs, while Ray was opening the door, Olwenya was about 2M away from her, he fell down and collapsed in the corridor. Some neighbours quickly tried to resuscitate him before taking him to Hospital and on the way over beloved brother and friend succumbed to his death.  God rest His soul.
