DENNIS OMBACHI SPEAKS ON WHY HE IS TAKING A BREAK FROM RUGBY

Celebrated rugby player and food blogger Dennis Ombachi has said he is taking an indefinite break from playing rugby to focus on his family. 

Speaking to musician Bien Aime Baraza on his YouTube channel, Ombachi says his wife Svetlana Polikarpova doesn’t want him to go back and play next year. “I took a sabbatical leave because of my kids until next year. But my mama says everything is now up and down and she is against me going back. Right now things have changed and my primary focus is to provide and be around them.

For the 10 years that I have been away, I have been playing sports and travelling and almost half a year I would be away and now I have a really young family. I really want to be present because this is a crucial age. I don’t want to come back and they are big teenagers and they are best friends with the nanny.”

On how fatherhood has changed him, Ombachi said, “Being a dad two times in a row is a special feeling, it has humbled me. With the son is that happiness and the machismo but with a daughter all of a sudden I also feel vulnerable.”Ombachi has two kids with Svetlana a boy and a girl.
