‘MUM WANTED ME TO BE A TV PRESENTER’ MARTIN KASAVULI PAYS TRIBUTE TO HIS MOTHER

By  |

Catherine Kasavuli’s son, Martin Agingu has opened up on his relationship with his late mum.

Speaking during her requiem mass held on January 12 at the Friends Church on Ngong Road, Martin said his mother wanted him to follow her footsteps, “You knew her as Catherine I knew her as mum, one of the things that she always wanted me to do was to go into television and broadcasting which is one of the things I never wanted to do. My job was to be mum’s bodyguard and I got to understand mummy is Catherine Kasavulli before it was just a radio in the background and I would hear her voice.

Mum and I formed a special bond from the day I was born. We were always laughing even when we didn’t have much and she was struggling to educate me. We always had laughter and a home with friends and I got to know a lot of people that she knew.

She was proud of me but I wanted her to keep quiet, one of the disagreements we had was when I told her not to put my name and picture in the newspapers. She was like, ‘how will they know I have a child?’ As much as she wanted me to follow in her footsteps, the reason why I got scared was because her shoes were too big to fill and it was donting for me.

He also urged men to take an active role in their women’s lives, “At the time that the news came out mum didn’t know that she had cancer and my job was to steal her phone because she liked to go on YouTube and watch something religious and entertaining and I remember showing her a funny video and she was laughing. We got to spend a lot of time and some of it was difficult, I want to urge sons and men to please take an active role in their women’s lives as far as cancer screening is concerned.
