COUNTRY QUEEN ACTOR NINI WACERA TALKS ABOUT GIVING UP ON LOVE

Veteran actress Nini Wacera has revealed the reason why she closed herself to romantic relationships. 

The Country Queen actress said her past relationships have left her heartbroken, “My multiple attempts at relationships have failed and I learned the hard and painful way, love hurts so I didn’t bother. One of my biggest mistakes was thinking people care, they actually don’t.”

In 2014, when she landed a six months acting gig in Nigeria. She agreed with her then boyfriend Toby to continue with their relationship but he ended up cheating on her. “In 2014, I had just wrapped Kona, an exciting opportunity opened up with Africa Magic Films in Nigeria as well as an invitation to audition for Desperate Housewives Africa. I got the lead and moved to Lagos for six months. The reality was donting, the shoot was staggering around, it was erratic and disorganised and for some reason my director hated me. I was not loving Lagos, it is a rough city. 

On a particularly difficult day, I get off set and I find missed calls from my girl Justine in Nairobi. She wanted to confirm if I had broken up with my boyfriend of 3 years Toby.  I asked why? She said, ‘because he and the art director are getting it on at a film set’ I was shuttered, completely heartbroken. I loved Toby. I had expectations that we could be 6 months apart and be faithful to each other.

I was disillusioned of course because it took him less than 10 days. After Toby the idea of opening up my heart again seemed like such a waste of time. I made a decision to never ever do it again. I will do life alone, as a single woman and a single mum. I erased all notions of romantic love in my life.”
