LULU HASSAN RESPONDS AFTER 10 SCHOOLS WERE CONNED USING SULTANA CAST MEMBERS
Media personality and TV producer Lulu Hassan has warned the public against dealing with cons using her TV show Sultana to offer fake mentorship programs. In a statement shared on March 26, Lulu said the production company Jiffy Pictures and Royal Media Services will never ask for money to participate in mentorship programs.
“Public Notice! Kindly Be advised that at no point is #vicworldevents related with #Jiffypictures. We ask schools to avoid engaging this particular team. Royal Media Services /Jiffypictures will neverask for money to mentor kids! Beware! #creatingstars,” she said.
The media personality also posted a poster by Vic World Events, with a picture of Sultana’s cast members Mwanaasha Johari and Lolani Kalu who were set to appear at the Ukunda Kids Festival on Sunday, March 25. “This was a lie, they conned more than 10 schools in Diani and ran away with the money. They didn’t show up or performed. They lied our innocent kids and the parents who made an effort to raise the money. It wasn’t fair at all,” said a complainant.
After Lulu disowned the event, Vic World Events said they deal with artistes directly and not with the production company, “This is very wrong and careless! We have never at any time used Jiffy Pictures or Citizen TV Kenya to create events, if you go to any school we’ve visited across the country, the visitors book is signed as members of Vic World Events not Jiffy Pictures or Citizen TV.
We don’t ask kids to pay for mentorship. We are not mentors, we do kids fun activities, we provide bouncing castles among other team building activities and that is what kid’s pay for! Also in our package we do engage celebrities just to spice up the event, engage the kids in their talents and have fun with them! In our posters there’s nothing like mentorship, Jiffy pictures or Citizen TV. We deal with the artistes at a personal level.”
