‘I DROPPED OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL AND GOT PREGNANT AT 17’ SONAL MAHERALI REVEALS

Real Housewives of Nairobi star Sonal Maherali has disclosed she never finished high school.

Speaking on the recent episode of Real Housewives of Nairobi, Sonal said her mum couldn’t afford to pay her school fees, “I have dreamt of being Cinderella ever since I was seven years old. Always chasing the glass slipper all my life, only because of the battles I have fought growing up. 

I was brought up by a single mother who really struggled, she cooked for people to bring us up and make a living. She schooled us through bursaries.  I never finished form 4 and never went to University. I got a job at Hooters Restaurant as a cashier. I used to take two matatus every day to go and make Sh6000.”

Sonal further stated she got pregnant at 17 and had to leave her parent’s home, “In 2000, I left my mother’s house when I was 17 years old and I told her because I have shamed her by becoming pregnant I will never come back, until to date I have never gone back. I said, “I will prove to you, see your strength and resilience so will I be.“

Everything I am today is I owe to my mother and also my husband, he has been my backbone until 2018 to bring this woman here. My hopes were crushed, my world was crushed but my dreams were never crushed.”
