KAMBUA REVEALS BATTLE WITH POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION
Singer Kambua has revealed that she struggled with postpartum depression following the birth of her son Nathaniel.
Kambua said it took a while for her to start producing milk, “I experienced baby blues when I had Nathaniel. It was compounded by the constant “maziwa haija kuja”?! As most of you know, my baby was a preemie. My milk took a while to come in. To say I was stressed would be a gross understatement. I got help from my village of sisters. Nurses mean well I’m sure, but they just pushed me over the edge at that time,“
In a recent post, Kambua stated she is currently prioritising what’s important to her, “I’ve been in a season of learning, unlearning, giving myself grace… prioritising what’s important to me. Refocusing on what I’m called to do. It’s so easy to find yourself caught up in serving everyone while putting yourself at the back burner. It’s taken conscious effort on my part, everyday to love on myself…gently…intentionally. To remind myself that I matter. My dreams, and desires matter. And that I am enough.
When was the last time you loved yourself? Like really and truly? When did you last give yourself a pat on the back; acknowledge how far you’ve come? Own your victories. Let your love for others and service to them flow from a place of abundance.”
